Detect Codex and Claude
Calmbu finds supported local Codex and Claude state from known locations, then lets the user confirm what should be protected.
Create a local encrypted snapshot
Sessions, history, settings, projects, and managed worktrees are packed into .calmbu snapshots in the chosen destination.
Validate before it counts
Snapshots are checked for manifest integrity and confidence signals before they appear as valid recovery points.
Restore safely when needed
Alternate restore is the default. Live-state restore is guarded by validation, confirmations, and emergency backup.

Calmbu runs locally. Backup creation, storage, and restore happen on your installation and in the backup location you choose. Licence validation is separate and never includes chats, code, paths, manifests, or backup contents.
Calmbu does not send Codex or Claude chats, prompts, code, worktrees, manifests, paths, or backup contents to an app server.
Known token and credential files such as auth.json, token files, and .env files are excluded by default.
Snapshots are written to the local or bring-your-own backup location you select, not to a calmbu cloud.
Restore-to-live-state is intentionally separate from alternate restore and requires strict checks before replacement.
